그동안 무게도 별로 나가지 않는 짐들을 바리바리 지고 고생하던 라마를 잠시 쉬러 보냈다. 그 자리에 분위기 좋은 사진을 한 장 찾아 걸었다. 저렇게, 먼지 냄새 나는 고서 위로 빛 한 줄기 비쳐 들어오는 수도원의 골방 같은 분위기도 참 좋다.

사진에 보이는 글은 세익스피어의 소네트 109번 '오, 내가 불성실했다고 말하지 마오'(O never say that I was false of heart)다. 일부만 보이는데, 전문은 다음과 같다. 그냥 나중에 다시 찾지 않기 위해서.

O, never say that I was false of heart,
Though absence seemed my flame to qualify.
As easy might I from my self depart
As from my soul which in thy breast doth lie.
That is my home of love; if I have ranged,
